On May 3, 2016, Rob was honoured to present Bill S-201, An Act to prohibit and prevent genetic discrimination, in the House of Commons and become its sponsor. This is the first Senate bill to be considered by the House in this Parliament. It was proposed by Senator James Cowan and was passed unanimously by the Senate. This Act fills a gap in Canadian law, providing protection for Canadians from discrimination based on their genetic characteristics, allowing Canadian law to catch up with scientific research and the practice of medicine.
