This year, on April 24th, I hosted my 3rd Annual Youth Career and Job fair. In the most successful fair so far, giving young people the opportunity to meet with over 50 employers and organizations. They also had a chance to receive one-on-one support for editing their resume and tips for interviews. I was grateful to meet with dozens of bright and ambitious students who felt like they were able to take a step in the right direction at the fair.
Every year, I’m proud to host my largest event to celebrate our nation’s birthday. This year’s Canada Day celebration was bigger than ever as Don Valley East and West joined together to celebrate at Aga Khan Park. With fantastic live performances, great complimentary food and 2,000 of our best friends, my colleagues and I were elated to celebrate with the wonderful communities we represent.
To celebrate the beginning of the New Year, I co-host a constituency New Year’s Levee with Kathleen Wynne, MPP for Don Valley West. Despite the bad weather on January 19, many members of the community came together at the Toronto Botanical Gardens to celebrate the New Year with live music and refreshments. I could not have asked for a better way to welcome 2019.
Every February, I pull out my skates as I host my annual Don Valley West skating party at Hodgson Senior Public School with the Hon. Carolyn Bennett, MP and Councillor Josh Matlow. Connecting with residents at this relaxed and fun-filled event is something I always look forward to as soon as the first snow falls. Thank you to all who joined me and I hope to see you again next year.
